LIBERTY Galati’s GREENSTEEL Academy has launched the registration for the Summer School, one of the most important internship programs for the company as every year it introduces a a new generation of enthusiastic students to the plant to help build its GREENSTEEL future.
The Summer School, which is now in its twelfth year, runs for two and a half months from 12 July to 22 September 2023. Students and fresh graduates who choose to enrol in the Summer School will be involved in the steelworks’ operations, learn about the company and its plans for GREENSTEEL transformation. The young people will have the opportunity to work in a challenging environment alongside the plant’s mentors and specialists, participate in training courses and develop the communication and teamwork skills that are so necessary to become professionals.
The GREENSTEEL Academy aims to upskill the plant’s current workforce and encourage new people into the industry. Its Discover GREENSTEEL course is now being run at Galati’s “Dunărea de Jos” University for students and graduates who are interested in discovering the future technologies of green steel manufacturing.
Mihaela Vereș, Human Resources Manager for LIBERTY Romania, said: “We are very pleased to launch the registration for the Summer School, an internship program that we have run successfully every year since 2012. We welcome students and graduates from Galati, but also from nearby counties, to join us in our activities and in our GREENSTEEL plans. We provide the ideal environment for young people to develop and take important steps in their careers and I invite as many as possible to join our family.”
Since its launch, almost 500 students have graduated the Summer School with 158 eventually joining the company. One of them is Cristian Grosu who joined the Summer School in 2019 after graduating the Faculty of Automation, Computer, Electrical and Electronic Engineering at “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galati, and now is a Support Engineer within LIBERTY Galati’s Central Maintenance Department.
Cristian encourages young students and graduates to apply and benefit from this opportunity: “Personally, I saw the Summer School internship as a launch pad for my professional career immediately after graduation. I had the opportunity to work on a project with practical application during this programme from which I was able to accumulate a wealth of knowledge. The internship culminated with the presentation of the project for the company representatives, a great opportunity to evaluate my work. I chose to continue as an employee of the company when the programme ended, so I was able to explore and further develop what I had started during the Summer School internship.”
Throughout the programme, students will be paid and will benefit from all the facilities of being an employee. For participants living outside Galati-Braila, the company provides accommodation.
Applicants can access the projects on the website at https://libertysteelgroup.com/ro/cariere/internship/ and should send their CVs to contact.galati@libertysteelgroup.com by 30 April.
