GFG Foundation Romania and LIBERTY Galati show their support for educational excellence

GFG Foundation Romania and LIBERTY Galati are showing their support for the Galati community and the education of the city’s younger generation by attending the City Hall in the Gala of Excellence in Education event on 22 June. The event, organised by Gloria Education Foundation, will see the highest achieving students in the city being awarded for their excellent performance.

As strategic partners of the event, GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galati will contribute this year to the rewarding of 550 students, from 5th to 12th classes, who finished the school year 2022-2023 with an overall grade of 10. The academic performance and development of young people in Galati is a key priority for GFG Foundation and LIBERTY, which in recent years have initiated multiple projects dedicated to support the education and development of students and graduates of schools with a technological profile.

Georgina Crumpton, General Manager GFG Alliance & GFG Foundation, said: “We are an active promoter of education in Galati, because education is at the heart of the development of our children, and of the local community. The GFG Foundation takes on this role by developing educational programmes that help students   reach their full potential in life and in their careers, such as the dual learning programme, delivered in partnership with the “Paul Dimo” Technological High School. Our aim is that through such projects we help students become more confident in their own voice, encourage their creativity, imagination and entrepreneurship, and ultimately prepare them for a successful professional career. We are committed to investing in our future generations.”

Ajay Aggarwal, President of LIBERTY Steel Group Europe and Chairman of the Board of LIBERTY Galati, said: “I am delighted that we can contribute to rewarding the best performing students in Galati and I appreciate their dedication and the efforts of their parents and teachers. These exceptional children have huge potential to strengthen local industries and communities and we want to support them in this process. It is why LIBERTY has initiated numerous educational opportunities for young people in Galati and the surrounding community over the last few years, as we believe young people are the ones who will help drive us to a greener, cleaner future. The Gala of Excellence in Education is a great opportunity to recognise the outstanding results of the students of Galati and I would like to thank the City Hall for this initiative and the Gloria Education Foundation for organising this fantastic event.”

During this years’ Gala of Excellence in Education, GFG Foundation and LIBERTY Galati will prepare educational and fun activities for both children and their parents attending the event. Among the activities organised at the GFG – LIBERTY tent there will be chemical experiments conducted by LIBERTY specialists, an interactive presentation of the steel production process, 3D figurine making and a creative corner where participants can take pictures.

LIBERTY Steel Group is committed to the education of new generations to create future leaders and specialists in the steel industry. To achieve this ambition, the company launches its first programme dedicated to graduates who want a career in the steel industry and contribute to the company’s decarbonisation plans. This year, LIBERTY Galati’s GREENSTEEL Academy launched the twelfth edition of the Summer School, which is dedicated to students and graduates who, for two and a half months, will to be involved in steel operations, learn about the company and its GREENSTEEL transformation plans. In efforts to encourage the new generation in discovering the technologies of the future in green steel production LIBERTY Galati is also running the “Discover GREENSTEEL” course in partnership with “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati.

GFG Foundation develops a series of important community projects, including the dual learning programme, organised together with LIBERTY Galati and in partnership with “Paul Dimo” High School. During this project, 21 students received a mixture of vocational and technical training, by merging theoretical knowledge taught by teachers with practical activities carried out by LIBERTY Galati mentors. Also, GFG Foundation students benefited from a bespoke programme delivered by Rewise Learning, which provided an additional UK accredited qualification. During the project the students also participated in many fun activities to develop life skills such as teamwork, communication and confidence building.
