LIBERTY Galați opened its doors for the ninth edition of the Summer School

45 students from Galati, Bucharest, Brașov, Iași, Constanța, Craiova and Cluj universities have started the LIBERTY Galati Summer School, an educational program which the steelworks uses to attract new specialists and strengthen its relationships with educational institutions across Romania.

Over 10 weeks, the interns will work along mentors (specialists of the Steel Plant) in order to understand the current industrial realities and contribute to solving real issues.

This year’s edition is carried out in strict observance with the internal regulations in the Plant to prevent Covid 19 infection spreading. Therefore, some of the activities are to be held online.

The Summer School opening ceremony was organized by video conference call and the students had the opportunity to have an open dialog with the Chief Executive Officer of the plant, Bogdan Grecu, Human Resources Director, Mihaela Crăciun, as well as with some of their mentors for the next 10 weeks.

“The fact that you have been selected in this program means that you have taken a first step in your career and your professional development. We hope that you can come up with fresh ideas and insights to improve the company’s processes. Now you can put into practice the principles learned in college, but also have the possibility to make mistakes. It is the perfect development environment for any student willing to do so.” encouraged Bogdan Grecu, the Chief Executive Officer of the plant.

“We have created this program because we want this company to be in business for a long time and on the other hand, to collaborate closely with the higher education system because unfortunately they are often not sensitive to the needs of the Romanian employers. In this Summer School, we offer you the opportunity to be assertive, share your ideas and suggestions and work together as a team. The only competition is with yourself!”, encouraged Mihaela Craciun, Human Resources Director of LIBBERTY Galati.

The interns will take part not only in projects, but also training sessions prepared by both internal and external experts as well as in team buildings to create cohesion and discover the strengths of the teams.

Launched in 2012, the Summer School of the Plant, part of the Internship program, had resulted in training 350 students and employing 120 new specialists.
