Dozens of students practice at LIBERTY Galati

Under the partnership with high schools and vocational schools, LIBERTY Galați provides the necessary resources to organize practice traineeships for students from three educational institutions from Galați county, that are studying in electrical, mechanical and turning classes.

In the last three months, more than 60 young people from “Paul Dimo” and “Radu Negru” Technological High Schools in Galati and “Costache Conachi” in Pechea have benefited from this opportunity, acquiring new professional skills under the guidance of LIBERTY Galati mentors. After being trained in health and safety at work, the students participated in practical and interactive activities carried out in the production departments, preparing them for a professional career in the steel industry.

I liked that the people here are very passionate about their work and were patient enough to answer all our questions about what it’s like to work in this industry and to explain the technical information very clearly. I most liked the presentation of the engines in the sections, which are very well organized”, said Iacob Sebastian Marius, student at “Radu Negru” High School.

In 2023 LIBERTY Galați will continue the practical training programmes with the three partner educational institutions, which will soon be joined by the “Aurel Vlaicu” Technological High School in Galați.

LIBERTY is the largest employer in Galati and we are committed to the education of young people in Galati, so that they can start their professional careers confident and ready to work in a dynamic and extremely important industry for the national economy. We need students to study sustainability, climate change and advanced steelmaking technologies, so that they can easily adapt to the industry of the future, which will be modern, digital, automated and carbon neutral“, said Mihaela Vereș, Head of HR, LIBERTY Romania.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of the steel industry, LIBERTY has founded the GREENSTEEL Academy, which aims at developing the workforce of today and tomorrow through innovative education programmes. One particular programme is the “Discover GREENSTEEL” course, dedicated to both students and university graduates interested in discovering modern

green steelmaking technologies. The company also organises an annual “Summer School”, a ten-week programme designed for students preparing to start their professional careers.

LIBERTY Galati is committed to the education of the younger generation and is constantly working in partnership with the GFG Foundation to develop innovative educational programs aimed to provide students with a new perspective on steelmaking, integrating the latest global market trends. Last year, GFG Foundation partnered with Paul Dimo Technical High School to launch a dual learning programme that combines teaching of theoretical knowledge by teachers with practical activities carried out with the help of LIBERTY Galati mentors.
