Technical Buyer (Whyalla, SA, AU)
About the role
Based in our Whyalla office, as part of the Procurement & Sourcing Team, this role works closely with key stakeholders at all levels of operation to deliver manufactured parts and services within maintenance plans and breakdown events.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Repairable management and quote retrieval
- Compiling and communicating weekly status reports to each site
- Developing department specific strategies for the procurement activity for $35M of spend in manufactured spares and develop strategy for repairs management of company assets
- Driving competitive advantage through effective sourcing, demand management and technical assessment
- Safety observations on-site
- Ensuring suppliers deliver through effective contract management
About your experience
As a subject matter expert with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility, you will bring to this role:
- A trade background or demonstrated experience in managing the sourcing of spares and repairables
- SAP experience preferred however computer proficiency is essential
- A sound knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of change management processes, tools and techniques
- Excellent influencing and both written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of contract law and contract documentation
- An aptitude for innovation and lateral thinking
- Strong business acumen and a passion for continuous improvement
- Effective analytical skills
