LIBERTY Speciality Steels and the GFG Foundation hosted students from Stocksbridge High School and High Storrs School at the Rotherham site to introduce them to the steelmaking industry.
The visit included guided tours of several key facilities, such as the laboratories, Test House, Bright Bar Rotherham, and the Thrybergh Combination Mill. These tours aimed to provide a overview of daily operations and the technical processes involved in steel production.
Students had the opportunity to observe various stages of production and testing, gaining a practical understanding of the industry. The sessions were interactive, allowing students to ask questions and engage with staff throughout the day.
Our experts and apprentices from across the business supported the visit, offering insights into their roles and highlighting the wider importance of steel in manufacturing and infrastructure.
The visit was made possible thanks to the support of the GFG Foundation and our dedicated tour guides, whose expertise and enthusiasm helped create an engaging and informative experience for all involved.
A massive thank you to the students, teachers, and all colleagues who contributed to the success of the day. This event is part of our ongoing commitment to support STEM education and inspire the next generation to consider careers in the steel sector.
