Safety Business Partner VIC TAS (Melbourne, VIC, AU)

About the role

The Safety Business Partner plays a crucial part in coaching, mentoring, and supporting the ARC Victoria and Tasmania business unit to cultivate a robust and engaged Health and Safety function. The primary objective is to integrate key safety processes, nurture a proactive and interdependent safety culture, conduct audits of health and safety processes, and guide the development and application of an integrated safety business model.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •     Contribute to enhancing health and safety performance and address incident trends.
  •     Lead incident investigations, identify hazards, and conduct risk assessments.
  •     Assist line leaders in the effective implementation and communication of the GFG health and safety policy, standards, programs, and procedures.
  •     Ensure that safety systems within the business unit comply with local legislation.
  •     Conduct audits of business processes associated with inherently high-risk activities.
  •     Support introducing new health and safety initiatives through delivering training sessions, predominantly face-to-face.

About your experience

The ideal candidate should possess a background in manufacturing/operations with a solid understanding of OHS systems. The ability to work independently, coupled with resilience in collaborating with key stakeholders to influence a positive culture and engage individuals with safety, is crucial.

 

Additionally, you will have:

  •     A background in safety, preferably 3-5 years of experience, or a track record as an exceptional operations leader with a working knowledge of health and safety.
  •     Experience in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  •     An innovative and creative approach to safety with a proactive attitude.
  •     Commitment to safety compliance.
  •     Experience in maintaining a balance between being friendly and firm, with the ability to address situations when they are not right.
