Mechanical Machinist Apprentice (Mayfield, NSW, AU)

About the role

We are seeking CNC Machining Apprentices based in Newcastle to join our team. This is a limited opportunity to gain trade skills within our steel industry, which has over 100 years of continuous history here in Newcastle. Begin your career with InfraBuild and help us to continue this vital history.

Our Apprenticeship Program creates a balance between working and studying so when you are not at TAFE learning the technicalities of your trade, you will be onsite putting what you’ve learnt into practice with heavy machinery and equipment. Our Apprenticeship Program will allow you to learn across our different businesses and departments, learning from experts in the industry.

You will be challenged, but you find it’s the best way to develop and learn. During the program, you’ll be able to draw upon the experience of your team and be mentored by experienced tradespersons and engineers to ensure your career starts in the best way possible.

It’s an opportunity to join an ever-changing business which is deeply enshrined in the history of the iconic Newcastle steel industry.

About your experience

This could be for you if you align with our core values of safety and customer and are focused on driving outcomes to build a career in CNC Machining. We are looking for motivated, hands-on, logical thinkers who will step up and resolve problems. Initiative and commitment matter!

As an InfraBuild Apprentice you will be:

  • A minimum of 16 years of age and have successfully completed year 10
  • Safety focused
  • Ready to soak up the knowledge of our specialists with your exceptional listening skills
  • Team orientated and able to get along with everyone
  • Mechanically minded, with a process orientated approach
  • Able to travel to and from site daily for assigned shifts and to TAFE as required

Your application should include:

  • Your resume
  • A cover letter to tell us about yourself and why you are applying for a CNC Machining role
  • Why you are the right person for this opportunity
  • Other relevant documents (ie. evidence of your highest education level and course certificates)
