Mechanical Fitter (Tahmoor, NSW, AU)
About the role
We are currently looking for motivated Mechanical Fitters. Reporting to the Maintenance Lead, you will be responsible in supporting the mechanical maintenance activities in the relevant department to provide the availability, reliability and performance of equipment, necessary to meet the department plan and targeted objectives.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Ensuring a safe workplace, identifying, and addressing risks appropriately and demonstrating positive safety behaviour
- Executing maintenance activities according to the weekly work schedule and unscheduled work as required
- Executing preventative mechanical maintenance inspections on equipment including but not limited to conveyors, continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeders, longwalls, mobile diesel equipment and winders
- Executing basic hydraulic and pneumatic system fault finding and equipment rebuild/refurbishments
- Assisting in the developing and enhancing work procedures and maintenance instructions
About your experience
You are a result driven Mechanical Fitter with experience within mining or heavy industry operations. With a strong focus on safety and quality, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both peers and supervisors. This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to grow and develop their career within this fast-paced industry.
You will have:
- Nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or Fitting & Machining or equivalent
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic & hydraulic drawings
- Able to perform fault-finding activities on complex, heavy industrial equipment
- Demonstrate ability to contribute, influence and make informed technical decisions.
- Whilst a background in the following competencies would be preferred, it is not essential:
- Experience in the coal mining industry and particularly underground
- Understanding of the NSW Coal Mining statutory and legislative obligations
- Documented Underground Coal Mining competencies / appointments from previous mines
- Rigging and dogging HRW licence
- Confined Space
- Working at Heights
- Hydraulics 1 and 2 or equivalent
- Welding processes competencies i.e. MMAW, GMAW, Oxy Fuel Thermal cutting
