International Women in Engineering Day
INVENTORS AND INNOVATORS
Meet Francesca, Production Manager from LIBERTY Magona
Francesca began to show an interest in science at high school and was always fascinated by how things are made. She liked the idea of challenging herself and felt engineering would do that, so she chose to study the subject further, before starting her career in the steel industry.
Francesca loves problem-solving and being able to develop and improve systems. Collaboration is a big part of her day-to-day and a particular area of her job that she enjoys. She also loves the variety the industry offers and the ample opportunities to work in different roles and environments.
On women in engineering, Francesca feels that the stereotypes need to change. She says, ‘If you are interested in planning, design, problem-solving, managing people and finance, then a career in the industry could be for you. The opportunities are endless.’
