LIBERTY Magona s.r.l. is one of the most experienced steel producers in Europe.
Founded in 1891, as the first Italian producer of tinplate, LIBERTY Magona is a leader in galvanized and pre-painted flat steel products. The plant is in Piombino, facing Elba island, in the region of Tuscany.
The company was listed on the Italian Stock Exchange for almost a hundred years before being bought by Usinor Group, one of Europe’s leading producer of steel, in July 1998.
In February 2002 the plant became part of Arcelor Group, which in July 2006 merged with Mittal Steel Group to create ArcelorMittal, the biggest steel producer in the world.
On 1 July 2019, ArcelorMittal Piombino (as it was called) was acquired by LIBERTY Steel and changed its name to LIBERTY Magona.
LIBERTY Magona has a production capacity of 630,000 tons per year of galvanized and pre-painted flat steel, employs more than 500 people and has customers in Italy and around the world.
Liberty Magona has obtained the certification on Quality (ISO 9001 and Automotive Standard IATF 16949), Safety (ISO 45001) and Environment (ISO 14001, EMAS Registration).
Today LIBERTY Magona is one of the most important Italian producers of galvanized and pre-painted flat steel products, thanks to the commitment and dedication of the company’s employees to delivering product innovation and customer satisfaction for almost 130 years.
