LIBERTY Ostrava to become general partner of the Ostrava para hockey World Championship 2021
The Ostrava mill is a general partner of the Ostrava Para Hockey World Championship 2021. By the newly concluded partnership it wants to help the city revive events which are important for Ostrava and the region after the pandemic. The Ostrava world tournament will offer its fans a total of twelve matches. The mill wants to carry on with the partnership with the Czech para hockey in the future.
„Para hockey championship is strongly connected with Ostrava after the emotional experiences of 2019. We were witnesses to extraordinary sporting event that exceeded the boundaries of the city, region and the country. The fans at the sold-out sports arena among whom were many of our employees wiped out the differences between healthy athletes and handicapped hockey players. So, we are happy that the championship comes back to Ostrava and we want to be part of it,” said Barbora Černá Dvořáková who is in charge of corporate responsibility at LIBERTY Ostrava.
The Ostrava mill contributes to attractive projects in the Moravian-Silesian region in a long run. Now in conjunction with the Czech Paralympic committee the company decided to support the tournament which is very well received and popular in Ostrava. The city has been hosting the para hockey championship for the third time. It is another important step for the company offering the city a support in reviving cultural and leisure time activities which have been hit by the pandemic measures.
World Championship begins on 19 June and the world’s top eight teams will take part in it including the Czech para hockey athletes. At the same time the championship is a qualification for the Beijing Winter Paralympics 2022. The top five teams of the Ostrava tournament will secure an advance to Winter Paralympics. The Czech team is defending fourth place from the 2019 championship.
