LIBERTY Steel Group becomes new owner of Huta Częstochowa

LIBERTY Częstochowa Sp. z o.o., which is part of the international LIBERTY Steel Group, has become the owner of Huta Częstochowa.

“LIBERTY Steel Group has fulfilled its commitment to the Polish court to complete the acquisition of Huta Częstochowa, Europe’s only producer of ecological, high-quality sheet metal produced from recycled steel. The commitment, which began with LIBERTY leasing the plant by court order in the last week of December 2020, is another step in realizing LIBERTY’s ambition to be a leading producer of GREENSTEEL in Central and Eastern Europe” a spokesperson for Liberty Steel Group said in a statement.

LIBERTY Częstochowa (then still under the name Corween Investments) leased the Steelworks from December 2020 and then led to the resumption of its production. On January 22, it won the third tender for the purchase of the assets of ISD Huta Częstochowa Sp. z o.o., which collapsed in 2019. According to the court’s decision, until the end of May, the winner of the tender had time to sign a notarised deed with the receiver.

In recent weeks, lawyers have been agreeing on the details of the contract. On May 28, representatives of LIBERTY Częstochowa Sp. z o.o. signed an agreement with the receiver in the notary office of Adam Suchta in Warsaw . After a while, the receiver Mateusz Bienioszek issued an official statement, confirming the sale of the Steelworks. Częstochowa Huta, owned by Liberty Częstochowa, employs 1131 employees. This year marks 125 years since its inception.
