LIBERTY Częstochowa wins community award

The Mayor of the City of Częstochowa has awarded LIBERTY Częstochowa, the largest GREENSTEEL plant in Poland, the distinction of being a “Promoter of Częstochowa’s economy”.

Every year the Mayor of Częstochowa presents awards to those who have shone through their cultural, social or economic benefit to the local community. This year, the ceremony took place on Sunday 28 August during a gala concert at the Częstochowa Philharmonic Hall to celebrate Częstochowa Day. At the event the Mayor handed over a statuette and a certificate highlighting the plant’s special distinction as a “Promoter of Częstochowa’s economy” to its Executive Director, Krishnamoorthy (Krish) Venkatasubramanian.

The award was for taking the actions needed to build a positive economic climate and are based on the increasingly strong performance of the plant since it was bought by LIBERTY in May last year. The award also emphasised LIBERTY Częstochowa collaboration with the city’s secondary and higher schools, opening its laboratories to pupils, students and scientists, conducts seminars and student and doctoral internship programmes.

On receiving the award, Mr Venkatasubramanian said: “Our company wants to grow, attract new employees and at the same time actively participate in the social life of the city. We are very pleased to be awarded this distinction and will continue to be a major source of local jobs and be a major contributor to the financial and social wellbeing of our community.
