Transport Supervisor (Queanbeyan, NSW, AU)
About the role
The position of Transport Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of safety, performance and leadership for a team of truck drivers and heavy vehicles. This includes overseeing all activities and resources associated with outbound transport to achieve agreed objectives, optimising profitability and business efficiency whilst maintaining a strong customer focus and a zero harm attitude.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting and maintaining a high standard for all transport activities, fleet presentation, employee performance and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all relevant policies, licences and legislative requirements are being met and are made available to appropriate drivers.
- Maximise fleet utilisation and continually look for ways to improve overall fleet efficiency.
- Recruit, select and performance manage drivers through regular communication, skills gap identification, training plan proposals and formal performance plans.
- Effectively manage operational costs (labour, fuel, equipment) in line with budget and demand expectations.
- Manage all accidents and safety incidents, conduct investigations, implement controls and organise repairs/maintenance with the least impact to the business.
About your experience
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong leadership, problem solving and customer service skills.
- In depth knowledge of the transport industry and regulatory requirements.
- Flexibility to travel to customer and other operational sites as needed.
- HC truck license & CV crane license (preferred not essential).
- White card & asbestos awareness training (preferred not essential).
