Technical Superintendent (Rod and Bar Mills) (Newcastle, NSW, AU)
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Continuous Improvement – InfraBuild, the Technical Superintendent role is responsible for technology improvement in the Manufacturing segment. It aims to deliver the initiatives identified in both the annual Business Plan and more strategic projects on a 2-3 year horizon.
The role can be based out of either Newcastle, Laverton or Sydney.
Responsibilities include:

Supporting the Manufacturing segment across multiple states, by functioning as a Subject Matter Expert of steel making, rod & bar rolling and processing technologies

Add value by change management and technical leadership through all stages of new technology adoption

Scanning the environment to identify new opportunities for commercialized technologies

Active and hands-on support (by team) towards new technology projects and commissioning
-
Coach and mentor engineers and graduates in technology applications
-
Advance the environmental sustainability of the operations within Manufacturing
About your experience
With an extensive background in technical, maintenance or operations roles in the steelmaking or manufacturing industries, you also have demonstrated exceptional stakeholder and relationship management success.
You will also have:

An Engineering qualification (Metallurgy, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) and/or equivalent extensive attainment of technical know-how

A broad overview of steelmaking, smelting, or metallurgical technologies

Strong business acumen complimented by problem solving & analytical skills
-
Excellent oral & written communication with the ability to compile a business case
-
Demonstrated experience with maintaining OEM and technology network/partner relationships
-
Proven ability to motivate, influence, mentor and coach the team’s actions to achieve outcomes understanding the long-term implications on the business

InfraBuild’s Steel Manufacturing business unit operates world-class state-of-the-art Steelmaking facilities in Sydney, Newcastle & Melbourne. Operating two electric arc furnaces and four rod and bar rolling mills we use local materials to produce high quality steel products. We supply a range of products to steel distributors nationally, whilst building on our proud traditions of technical excellence and team safety.
