Senior Electrical Engineer (Melbourne, VIC, AU)
About the role
Simec Renewable Energy, a leading renewable energy company is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Melbourne team.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end grid connection management for GFG projects, modifications and new equipment development.
Your expertise will be crucial in managing the technical, commercial and legal aspects of renewable energy connections, from early-stage development to registration, commissioning and energization. Additionally, you will be tasked with developing innovative strategies to transition the steel industry to renewable energy and hydrogen based solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adequate support is provided for projects
- Manage technical, commercial and legal aspects of renewable energy connections
- Oversee process from early-stage development to registration, commissioning and energization
- Proactively manage continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance outputs and address any challenges that arise
- Engage with industry experts to ensure Simec is informed of market developments, and technical opportunities
About your experience
To be successful in this role you will be a motivated Electrical Engineer who operates with a safety-first mindset and possesses strong stakeholder management skills.
You also have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in utility-scale grid connections
- Proficiency in power system analysis tools
- Experience with one or more of wind/solar/battery/hydrogen projects
- Strong knowledge of grid regulatory processes
- Project management and engineering design skills
- Business development and asset management expertise
