Senior Commercial Analyst – Capital & Corporate Reporting (Whyalla, SA, AU)

About the role

You will be joining a professional, experienced and commercially savvy team. As the Senior Commercial Analyst – Capital & Corporate Reporting you will play a crucial role in providing a high level of commercial and financial support to the Iron Ore Operations team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and providing regular presentations of Capital budgeting and forecasting during each cycle at an operational level
  • Analysing high level timelines in order to develop and achieve specific actions with timely outcomes
  • Participate in end of month preparation meetings and provide effective communications of the key deliverables and dates to the assigned Capital Operations team
  • Consolidation and presentation of data for financial reporting purposes to the corporate office
  • Contribute to the development of commercial capability within the Iron Ore Operational business unit
  • Provide timely support, recommendation, advice and corporate governance to drive the achievement of strategic goals for the business unit
  • Identifying any associated risks and develop as well as implement the appropriate risk mitigations strategies
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement for the provision of commercial services to the business

About your experience

To be successful in this role you will be commercially minded, be proactive and the ability to shift focus and adapt to different strategies and situations.

 

You will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in either commercial, finance or business management
  • CPA/CA accreditation preferred
  • Strategy development
  • Strong financial evaluation and report presentation skills
  • Ability to identify and have a sound understanding of key drivers in a complex commercial environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency with MS office suite
  • SAP experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

About our team

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south west of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Our Tahmoor Colliery in New South Wales, is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant, producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Administration functions and ore pelletising and port facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney. 
The Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years. Our operations in Tahmoor NSW produce metallurgical coal for the steel making process where the business is currently investing to expand and extend the life of the operations.
