Operator (PRA10) (Bell Bay, TAS, AU)

About the role

The role of the production operator is to safely execute production activities within the Liberty Bell Bay Furnace operations according to the production plan and operate the physical assets, plant and equipment.

Reporting to the Production Shift Supervisor, the operator will be responsible for:

 

  • Performing molten material tasks
  • Upholding and adhering to all safety procedures on site, identify and assess risk when necessary
  • Work with physical assets, plant and equipment as defined by the Operation’s standards and operating procedures
  • Monitor molten material quality via sampling and temperature monitoring
  • Safely undertake operation of the overhead gantry crane operations
  • Perform minor process maintenance on furnace equipment (casting machine system, launder refractory maintenance etc)
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in the furnace building and surrounding areas via hosing, shovelling and use of mobile equipment
  • Complete equipment pre-start inspections, inspect equipment such as mud gun, drill, poker, fume extraction, casting machine, overhead crane, skips and lifting equipment.

About your experience

The right candidate will have previous experience in mining, processing or heaving manufacturing operation, with a basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.

 

  • Highly aware of safety requirements within high risk environments
  • Reliable with an exceptional work ethic
  • Ability to work a rotating shift (4 shifts on (2 days 2 nights), 4 days off)
  • Physically able to undertake tasks requiring manual handling
  • Ability to complete tasks involving close contact with high temperature molten materials
  • Bridge and gantry crane ticket, would be helpful
  • Forklift, bobcat ticket and HR licence desirable.
