Operations Manager (sydney, NSW, AU)

About the role

Due to an internal promotion, a rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a seasoned Operations Manager to join our dynamic and committed team at Wetherill Park.  The Operations Manager – Distribution, is responsible for ensuring the warehouse operations perform to maximum efficiency, customer satisfaction through meeting our delivery quality promise, the operational cost effectiveness of the site operations and the health and safety of all employees whilst driving continuous improvement.  This is a large site that runs across three shifts with three direct reports and approximately 40 staff in total.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Support and assist in the implementation of operational excellence initiatives to improve cost to serve for a better market offer and improved customer service
  • Operational cost management and optimisation
  • Establish appropriate levels of competent supervision across all shifts, including relief arrangements to meet business requirements
  • Demonstrate safe work behaviours through leading by example and identifying and acting on opportunities to improve safety standards and performance
  • Influence positive change and building a positive culture within the warehouse team
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of maintenance, inspection and test programs and schedules and arrange for any corrective actions or repair required
  • Establish adequate resources and shift structures to meet business requirements

About your experience

You are an experienced, confident decision maker who never walks past an opportunity for improvement.  You are a manager who motivates others through expertise and action and continuously develops yourself, your direct reports and wider working groups. Ideally you will come from a dynamic distribution environment.

 

The foundations you need to be successful in this role:

  • Production engineering background preferred with tertiary qualifications well regarded
  • Demonstrated leadership (preferably in a warehousing and production environment)
  • A high level of communication, stakeholder influencing and relationship management skills
  • Supply chain experience and/or understanding of linkages to operations
  • Strong safety experience
  • A high level of computer literacy, including MS Excel, Word, Access and SAP
  • Knowledge of Seel Industry and products, desirable
  • Transport management system knowledge
