Financial Compliance Specialist (Adelaide, SA, AU)

About the role

Based in Adelaide and reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Compliance Specialist will play an integral role in supporting the SIMEC Mining Whyalla and Tahmoor, Whyalla Ports and AMSA businesses. You will provide and maintain accurate calculations for Mining Make Good provisions and other Statutory requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recognise, document and audit Principle 7 risks and maintain suitable reporting documents
  • Review and maintain Mining Make Good provisions
  • Own internal Embedded lease process
  • Maintain and update mining Accounting policies
  • Provide monthly reconciliations
  • Manage R&D tax compliance, this includes working with plant to identify and value R&D
  • Liaise with external auditors for yearly sign offs
  • Provide assistance with Financial controlling tasks

 

About your experience

We are looking for some who has a curious mind, is highly analytical and proactive and has the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams in the business.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in either Accounting or Finance
  • CPA/CA qualification
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver on strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial regulatory requirements and compliance processes
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
