Environmental Specialist (Laverton, VIC, AU)

About the role

The Environmental Engineer will support the implementation of the environmental management systems (EMS) that ensure environmental compliance and drive improvement in environmental management and resource efficiency. It will also provide leadership and support in maintenance and improvement of the EMS such that it delivers the environmental outcomes of the Business Plan and complies with requirements of ISO14001. This role will have a great contribution in fulfill internal and external environmental reporting requirements by coordinating and reviewing data / delivery of critical reports in a timely and accurate manner.
 

The Environmental Engineer is an integral member of the Rod and Bar environment team, with no direct reports, but with authority to establish environmental standards and drive resource efficiency across the site.

About your experience

To be considered for this role, you will have:

 

  • Tertiary degree in environmental or chemical engineering

  • Technical expertise in the management and implementation of ISO 14001 EMS Standard

  • ISO14001 Auditor training and experience (Desirable)

  • 5 + years’ experience in environmental management in industrial environments

  • Knowledge of Victorian legislation to ensure compliance with legal obligations

  • Ability to lead and implement environmental management practices (e.g. environmental monitoring plans)

  • Experience facilitating inspections by Environmental Regulators

  • Ability to manage, influence, communicate with all levels of the business

  • Excellent time, analytical and priority management skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
