Contracts Manager (2000, NSW, AU)
About the role
Our Commercial Team is growing and seeking a Contracts Manager based in InfraBuild’s Sydney CBD Office. Reporting to the National Commercial Manager and working closely with the Sales and Legal Teams, the Contract Manager’s responsibilities include:
- Providing advice on contractual and commercial matters to the business
- Reviewing and negotiating Supply Contracts for supply of steel products
- Leading contractual negotiations including reviewing proposed new contracts and negotiate departures with customers to ensure contract matches company standard positions and mitigate risks
- Assisting with the improvement and development of commercial and contracting processes and templates
- Advising on claims and dispute resolution and managing the close out of contractual disputes
- Improving internal payment claims processes and templates
- Managing and administering contractual aspects during delivery of Supply Contracts
- Preparing and submitting claims for variations, extra service charges or extensions of time where entitlements exist under Supply Contracts
- Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve strong commercial outcomes
- Providing reasoned advice on contractual entitlements and quantification of costs
- Conducting risk assessments and checks in line against company positions before execution of new contracts
- Advising on commercial issues, risks, and opportunities under the Supply Contract
- Contact management including preparing notices and making claims where contractually entitled to maximise profit and mitigate contractual risks
- Managing and negotiating contractual claims, disputes, and resolution of project specific contractual issues
- Supporting the business to understand the commercial and contractual obligations of the Supply Contract and establishing / maintaining all controls required for effective contract management
- Preparing and managing submission of payment claims
- Advising on Security of Payments legislation
- Initiating and managing Security of Payments claims if required
- Building an understanding of internal business processes and implementing improvements to ensure InfraBuild meets its contractual obligations and minimises risk of delays or contractual claims
About your experience
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in Law, Commerce, Quantity Surveying or other associated disciplines with relevant industry experience
- Experience as a Commercial Manager, Contracts Manager, Contracts Administrator or Legal Counsel in the construction or major projects industry
- Strong commercial acumen
- Advanced understanding of construction contracts and keen eye for detail when it comes to reviewing and negotiating Supply Contracts
- Previous experience negotiating and managing construction contracts or Supply Contracts will be highly regarded
- Experience with making and responding to contractual claims
- Detailed understanding of security of payments legislation and dispute resolution practices and procedures
- Ability to efficiently manage and engage with multiple stakeholders on complex issues
- Commercial mindset, leadership, management, and integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent communication skills including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders
- High attention to detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with issues relating to suppliers, experience working either for a supplier or managing a supplier in the construction industry will be highly regarded
