About the role

The Branch Manager is an integral part of the depot and regions ongoing success. This is a varied and a hands-on role where the ideal candidate will be managing the people and supervising the daily operations of the Matthew’s Metals East Maitland branch. It is a great opportunity for a supervisor looking to step up.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Managing and coordinating the logistics, administration and customer service of this branch
• Managing daily operations including people leadership for a team of 12 to 15
• Managing and coordinating truck drivers, operators, yard men etc. on a day-to-day basis
• Contributing to ongoing process improvements
• Communicating regularly with both ferrous and non-ferrous customers
• Ensuring the operation of the yard is working in adherence with site safety policies and procedures
• Coordinating non-ferrous metal collections from a broad geographical range

About your experience

We’re looking for someone who understands our industry, appreciates our policies and procedures and yet can think on their feet to create win/win outcomes for customers and the business. Ideally, you should have experience in construction, manufacturing or transport and logistics or agricultural and landscaping.

• Goal-oriented, with a real desire to achieve results
• Having a demonstrated ability and experience in a leadership position, preferably in the recycling or scarp yard or waste management industry
• Strong experience in supervision or operational management or people/team management
• Comfortable working without direct day to day supervision with the support of Management and Head Office
• Forklift license and scrap experience would be beneficial
• Heavy machinery operation or truck driving experience is desirable but not essential
