Sergio Stecca
After a few years of experience in a hydraulic company, Sergio Stecca joined the Usinor group in February 2000. Initially he worked at the metallurgical laboratory before being posted to the Metallurgie Qualité service at the French plant in Fos sur Mer in order to increase the metallurgical skills of the upstream filiere. During this time he worked as an interface with the Piombino plant, mainly regarding the technical specifications of the products.
In 2002 he returned to Piombino , taking responsibility of a new ‘Product Quality’ service with responsibility for the coordination of internal and external quality, the interface with external technical stakeholders, including coils suppliers, the development of new products and feasibility management.
Since 2006 he has been responsible for the Quality department, which includes product quality service as well as two Metallurgical and Painting laboratories, which are dedicated to testing and analysis of products and production processes.
Sergio holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pisa with a specialization in Production and a thesis on recycling of lead from exhausted batteries. In 2013, together with other sector specialists, he participated in the revision and update of the manual “Prepainted metal laminates” published by the European Coil Coating Association.
