Roland is a steel industry leader with 40 years of experience working at the highest levels in the global metals sector. Roland joined LIBERTY Steel Group in April 2020 as President and interim CEO of LIBERTY Steel Group Europe & UK. Roland previously served as the first CEO of the combined ArcelorMittal group in 2006 having held senior roles and directorships in Arcelor and its predecessor companies since 1993. Following that Roland became CEO of the integrated mining and metals group Nyrstar N.V. between 2009 and 2014 before becoming the CEO & Chairman of British Steel in 2016. Roland holds a Finance qualification from Harvard, an MBA from Sacred Heart University in Luxembourg and an Mechanical Engineering degree from the Swiss Federal Institution of Technology in Zurich. Roland lives in Switzerland with his wife and has two grown up children.
